Special Needs
GCCR's Most Important Needs
Many of GCCR’s Cavaliers come from puppy mills, where they’ve lived in deplorable conditions with minimal care and socialization. Understandably, these dogs require more medical attention and a longer rehabilitation period in foster care to make them adoptable. Intake medical costs for each puppy mill dog most often exceed the adoption fee for that dog.
Your donation will help these discarded puppy mill dogs blossom into the beautiful and loving companions they were meant to be.

The Benefits of Rescuing a Senior Cavalier
Studies have shown that the health benefits of pet companionship include lower blood pressure, lower anxiety and depression, and reduced heart risk. There’s no denying puppies are cute and their antics are adorable. But they also chew, need to be housebroken, and have boundless energy. If you’d like all the benefits of owning a dog, but perhaps with a little slower lifestyle, consider adopting a senior Cavalier.
Because we think seniors (2-legged and 4-legged) deserve a break, senior Cavaliers have a reduced adoption fee. Additionally, seniors age 60 and over who adopt a Cavalier age 8 and over receive a 50% discount on the adoption fee.
Afraid you may lose a senior dog sooner than a young one? Life offers no guarantees at any age. Rescued pets seem to know they’ve been given a second chance and often show an appreciation and enthusiasm for their new life. And once a Cavalier has stolen your heart, quality of time becomes foremost to quantity and you’ll cherish every moment.
